An ABC in Pictures, Alexander Benois, 1904
St. Petersburg, Dept. of State Documents. 34 pages with color illustrations
Card Binding. 33 x 26 cm
This book belonged to Tsarevich Alexei. On the instruction of Nicholas II a special library was put together for Alexei, partly housed at the Winter Palace and partly at the Alexander Palace. It consisted of a few shelves comprising both copies of books in the Emperor's collection as well as books that had been presented to the Tsarevich. The book plate in this ABC reads in Russian: "From the Library of H.R.H. the Tsarevich Grand Duke Alexei Nicholaievich."
